Comments on Ride and Stride - Saturday 13 September 2008

Firstly, a very big thank you to all who took part in yesterday's Ride and Stride on a day which saw the best weather for a long, long time.  I hope riders and striders had a successful and enjoyable day out and managed to visit lots of churches and chapels.

Secondly, thanks to all those who manned their respective churches and chapels for part, or all, of the day to welcome visitors.  I personally appreciated the warm welcome and offer of refreshments offered by those manning many of the churches I visited in and around Shrewsbury and in the Wem & Whitchurch Deanery.

Thirdly, I very much regret that some churches which were shown on both the printed list and the web site as being open and manned, fully or partly, were not in fact open, or had not displayed any poster or signing-in form.  I intend to follow this up in one or 2 cases to find out what went wrong.  It was, I know, very disappointing to reach a church or chapel to find nothing there.

With very best wishes

Martin Locke
